‘Legend Campaign’ by Richard De Chazal for Evolve Make Up ‘Be your own legend….Evolve’

Richard de Chazal is one of Australia’s most respected haute-couture designers, make-up artists, stylists and photographers. A member of the Australian design hall of fame and winner of numerous photographic, design and art awards, his lavish creations on the catwalks, in theatres, in the pages of magazines and calendars and on the walls of collectors globally have won him acclaim as well as outrage. A self confessed anachronism - whilst exploring the boundaries of fashion and the archetypical symbols of beauty, sexuality and mythology - Richard’s work retains an air of mysterious nostalgia, heavily influenced by the collaborative works of Rackham, Dulac, Lord Leighton, Alma Tadema, Barbier and Gruau. Richard joins forces with Evolve Make Up to highlight the diversity of the professional product range.

Eve says ‘Richard has been a major influence in my career, it was his creativity all those years ago that inspired me to want be a professional make up artist. He truly is a unique genius with vision beyond what even the most creative mind can see. So you can imagine when he called me out of the blue one day, he’d had an epiphany whilst driving, and said he had this great idea for a campaign for Evolve, I was on the edge of my chair! It was brilliant, make one blonde haired, blue eyed model into several different Hollywood Legends, including Josephine Baker! I think I screamed ‘YES’!  If anyone was going to pull that off, it was Richard! He went all out, it was the most intense shoot I think I’ve ever been on, he truly is a one man show, from doing the make up, the wigs, the frocks, making the jewels, set design, photography, you feel like you need to clap all the time, its amazing to watch! We also did a behind the scenes video we’ll put to DVD, showing the transformation of our model into the different legends, its fascinating and a great educational tool for any make up artist’.
